Get Well Soon, Istanbul

Hello and greetings, my friends.

Due to the heavy downpour that intensified across Istanbul, flooding unfortunately occurred in metro stations and underpasses in Esenler, Zincirlikuyu, and Topkapı.

While streets and avenues in Sarıyer and Kağıthane were submerged under rising rainwater, Alibey Stream overflowed in Arnavutköy, leaving several vehicles underwater.

On another note, schools throughout Istanbul have been suspended for tomorrow due to severe weather conditions. I extend my sincere get well wishes to all my fellow Istanbulites affected by the heavy rain.

Epic Champions League Night in Istanbul: Lions Host Barca!

Hey everyone, how’s it going? There’s a massive Champions League match tonight, and even with the rainy weather outside, the atmosphere in Istanbul is already electric! Fingers crossed for a huge victory—we can definitely pull this off!

Tonight, Galatasaray welcomes Spanish giants FC Barcelona to RAMS Park for Matchday 2 of the UEFA Champions League. After a tough 3-1 setback away at Sporting in Lisbon on the opening night, the Lions are hungry to get their European campaign properly up and running in front of a packed, passionate home crowd.

Here are the key match details you need to know before kickoff:

  • Kickoff Time: 22:00 local time (21:00 CEST)

  • Venue: RAMS Park, Istanbul

  • Referee: Marco Guida (Italy)

  • Live Broadcast: TRT 1 (Free-to-air in Turkey)

This match carries a bit of special nostalgia as well. Galatasaray and Barcelona have met 10 times previously in European competitions. The Turkish side's standout victory came nearly 32 years ago—a famous 2-1 win at the legendary Ali Sami Yen Stadium back on November 23, 1994. In a fantastic twist of football history, current manager Okan Buruk actually came off the bench as a player that night! Tonight, he leads his squad from the touchline, looking to write another unforgettable chapter.
